Footprints is a program where you can take the lessons of your short-term exposure to Africa to the next level. In short, the program is 11 weeks in duration, spent with our partner Hands At Work in Masoyi, South Africa. The focus of this program is on preparing volunteers to serve effectively in one of our projects throughout Africa as well as being exposed to the realities of the challenges here. The preparation allows volunteers to:
Observe the operations and heart of Hands at Work in Masoyi;
Experience traditional African community and living first-hand
Build relationship and experience living with orphan-headed households;
Discuss realities of African culture with local leaders, including tribal chiefs, church and community leaders;
Learn effective and valuable community intervention strategies
Following on from that, volunteers move out to one of our projects, to serve. Hands at Work project locations currently include Swaziland, South Africa, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, Democratic Republic of Congo and now Nigeria. This is for a period of about 6 - 9 months. And at the conclusion of their time, volunteers return to South Africa for debriefing week.
