Short Term Opportunities

  • Africa

13 million orphans now, 43 million by 2010; 7000 people dying every day; As this breath-halting reality of HIV/AIDS stuns and burns across southern Africa, the rest of the world waits, paralysed and overwhelmed by the magnitude of such pain.

In January 2005, Westside King's Church began its part in God's redemptive work in Africa by sending 34 people to remote areas of Zambia and South Africa to join mobilized Africans in caring for the dying, orphans and widows through home-based care, education and construction of community infrastructures. Since then, many more teams have gone.

Future short-term teams are being planned now. Any and all skills and ages are wanted. Only a desire to serve and be open is needed.

  • Mexico

In the heat of Northern Mexico, thousands of families live in inadequate housing-wood shacks or small rooms, created by a thin plastic tarp propped up on a stick, sometimes shared by 2 families and often flooded during regular seasons of heavy rain.

But God's people care. This year Westside is sending 3 mission teams to Ensenada, Mexico, through the Homes of Hope program supported by YWAM, to pay for and build a new home for a deserving family. The home will be given as a free gift and a testament to God's generous love.
