Life Care at Westside King’s Church

There are times in life when we need support. When we are confused or in grief, or when we are experiencing spiritual or life challenges, we need to reach out for help. We need a trusted person of Christian depth and maturity to talk to or pray with.

That person may be a Christian pastor, but not always. Sometimes we need a qualified counselor who can walk with us for a while. At other times we may be best helped by someone who is simply willing to share our journey with us, a mature Christian who has the heart and time to speak hope and grace into our lives.

At Westside King’s Church, we believe that pastoral care is a function of our entire community, and that there are pastoral gifts both in and outside our paid staff. The secret of a true caring Christian community is found in the diversity and availability of the care we provide.

We invite you to consider the full spectrum of pastoral care resources of our community:

• Westside pastors – we serve our community along with the following resources
• Recommended counselors and community resources – we are happy to direct you to resources in the community that we trust
• Gifted and mature volunteers from the Westside community – we believe in the quality of support that can come from a mature friend.

For those who would like to volunteer their time in pastoral care

In the spirit and vision of pastoral care we are promoting at Westside King’s Church, we are extending an invitation for mature and pastorally gifted members of the Westside community to consider an organic and connected form of Christian service. We need you to assist our shift from “professional paid care only” towards a vision of pastoral care that combines a diversity of supports, including community volunteers.

If you are interested in this ministry, we want to hear from you. Our first life care team meeting is Tuesday, Oct 6 at 7 pm.

We are looking for people who are mature in faith, exemplify a caring way, are willing to serve others, are able to receive direction and training, and represent the vision and values of Westside King’s Church. We will not over-use you! You will let us know how you would be interested in serving. Schedules of availability, interest and ability will be maintained.
