Understanding Words: How Bible translators make decisions

In our teaching Eat These Words [3] we talked about the word 'Slave' and how it might have made sense in Paul's world, bearing in mind that it means different things to us today.  In this video below a modern day translation committee revises the latest edition of the English Standard Version (ESV) of the Bible. Leading translators from around the world meet at Tyndale House in Cambridge struggle to agree on just what is meant by use of the word 'slave'. The  debate includes Peter Williams, Gordon Wenham, Jack Collins, Wayne Grudem and Paul House.
