The Hopefulness of Sin: What Sin Is, What Grace Does, and Why We Shouldn’t Be Afraid to Come Out of Hiding
In keeping with our current Sunday teaching, we are offering a special Pastor’s Class for Wednesday, October 18th and 25th. Bob Osborne will be teaching on Oct 18 and he will be joined by David Harvey on Oct. 25. We begin at 7 pm both nights.
Sin is often thought to be an outmoded concept but we think its time to realize just how hopeful the biblical concept of sin actually is! If that seems a strange thing to say, then consider this: sin says something profound about who we are as human beings — that while we are not what we should be, we are also not what we will be. This is incredibly hopeful!
And even more so, sin’s defeat is the key to understanding God’s glorious future. The gospel does not make sense without it. Meanwhile, we are confused about sin — what it is, what it means, and why its important to name.
In other words, to name sin as sin is hopeful because it leads us to the grace of God and a deeper solidity than we would otherwise ever know. And we all long for that deepest solidity, where all is well, and where no threat to that wellness exists.
Don’t miss this opportunity! We believe these sessions will be deeply encouraging to your life.
